Code of Conduct of iba AG

Foreword

"See The Big Picture" with iba. We actively communicate this slogan to our customers and partners on our website, in our brochures and at our trade fair appearances. For us, these three words not only reflect our vision for the products and services of iba AG, but also our inner conviction. We see ourselves as part of a larger whole: as part of the regions in which we operate, as part of society and as part of the lives of the people who work with our products or for iba AG.

For this reason, absolute integrity as well as ethically and legally correct conduct are indispensable throughout our entire organization.

This perception goes hand in hand with a great responsibility - of an economic, social, ecological and technological nature - which should characterize our actions. We therefore commit ourselves and all our employees in this Code of Conduct to a sense of duty, fairness, reliability, credibility and compliance with legal and ethical standards in all aspects of our business activities. It serves as a guideline for the day-to-day work of all iba colleagues and therefore applies to all employees, managers and the Management Board of iba AG.

Of course, we understand that there is much more to corporate culture than a formal document. It must be lived every day and thus be embraced and passed on. We therefore expect the Code of Conduct to be anchored, lived and respected by everyone in their actions.

Then we are sure that our company will continue to stand for first-class products and customer-oriented service and will also be perceived as an excellent employer.

1. Legal and ethical principles

Thanks to our approachability and openness, we at iba AG have been able to build up great trust and an excellent reputation with our customers and society. In order not to jeopardize this, as well as our integrity and credibility, the applicable legislation is always the guiding principle of our actions. Without exception, we comply with the laws, rules and regulations of the countries in which we operate and observe prohibitions and obligations. This also applies in competitive situations and if this could result in economic disadvantages for our company or make our actions more difficult. However, we want to go beyond mere compliance with the law and align our ethical and moral behavior with the following values:

  • respect for human rights
  • integrity and mutual respect in interpersonal relationships
  • environmental and climate protection
  • responsible use of technology
  • fair trade
  • selflessness and charity

2. Dealing with colleagues and employees

Mutual respect is the central pillar of our corporate culture. We see a great strength of iba AG in the transparent and fair interaction between colleagues. Despite new challenges, such as distributed company locations or an increasing company size, we want to consolidate this and continue to live it. Consequently, we always want to "see the whole picture" in interpersonal interactions. We see our colleagues as people who are integrated into an individual social structure with individual needs. Our interactions with colleagues are always characterized by mutual respect and esteem. We take this into account in discussions and conflicts of interest, which is why we always act objectively and in the best interests of our company when making decisions

3. Behavior within the company

Innovative strength is one of our most important success factors. To promote this, we are committed to a forgiving error culture. On the one hand, we are open to change and see it as an opportunity. On the other hand, we continuously question existing solutions and strive to optimize them. We also treat the assets of iba AG with respect. In addition to physical property such as premises, equipment and computers, these also include intellectual property such as work results, patents and trade secrets. We handle these responsibly and treat them as if they were our own. This also includes protecting assets and information from unauthorized access: we only share information, technical knowledge or strategic plans with the designated persons. In this way, we also ensure that our colleagues feel comfortable in their day-to-day work and contribute to the long-term success of the company.

4. Cooperation with customers and suppliers

We treat the material and intellectual property of our customers and suppliers just as carefully as we treat the assets of iba AG. We never use it without permission and only in the manner agreed. We attach great importance to respect and reliability in our dealings and cooperation with business partners. We want to support our customers' business models and production processes with our products and are therefore aware of the importance of excellent support. Our aim is to advise customers to the best of our technical knowledge and to fulfill their requests to the best of our ability. We put long-term, positive customer relationships before short-term profit. We respond promptly and conscientiously to concerns or complaints. We also align the development of new products and features with existing customer requirements. It is our understanding that personal data requires a high level of protection and must be protected against unauthorized access. We therefore only use it for the purpose for which it is intended. We treat personal data confidentially, only store it for as long as is permitted and necessary and never pass it on to third parties without consent. To protect data, we have installed an information security management system (ISMS) in accordance with ISO 27001. With the help of all these measures, we contribute to a trusting working relationship.

We also expect our suppliers to adhere to ethical standards and comply with applicable law.

5. Environmental protection and sustainability

As we see the big picture in everything we do, environmental protection is also an important aspect of our business activities. This means that we take the initiative to use water, energy and other resources sparingly in our day-to-day work. For this reason, we are constantly working to make our processes and products more sustainable and to minimize our impact on the environment. Our efforts go beyond government regulations and requirements so that we are perceived as the progressive company that we are. As even seemingly small measures can contribute to this, in addition to high-profile measures such as the energy balance and supply of our office buildings, the sense of duty of each individual employee is of great importance. With our products, we also ensure that manufacturing customers can improve their material and energy consumption and thus make a contribution to environmental protection.

6. Diversity

Colleagues from more than 15 different nations work together at iba AG. Diversity is therefore an integral part of our corporate identity. For this reason, it is fundamental that every employee and business partner is respected and valued regardless of gender, religion, nationality, handicaps, age or sexual orientation. We see diversity as a great asset, promote equal opportunities and create an environment characterized by fairness and respect. This helps to ensure that every employee can express his opinion freely and openly. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination.

7. Health and safety

The health of our colleagues is important to us. For this reason, we ensure a safe working environment in which all employees can work free from physical and mental hazards and where physical strain does not exceed individual capabilities. All colleagues are therefore required to adhere to the prevailing protection and safety regulations and to avoid hazardous situations. However, we understand health not only as the absence of illness: Instead, we see it as our responsibility to provide measures that have a positive impact on physical and mental well-being. For example, all employees are encouraged to take part in our free sports program and use it to balance out their day-to-day work at the office desk. We also want to make a lasting contribution to the health of our colleagues with the varied offerings of our company restaurant, where we cook with fresh and regional ingredients. We are convinced that job satisfaction has a significant influence on both the performance and health of our employees. That is why we regularly survey the mood of all colleagues and take their concerns and wishes into account.

8. Social commitment

We see ourselves as part of the regions in which we operate and therefore also take responsibility for our influence on the social structure. For historical reasons, there is a particularly close connection between iba AG and the city of Fuerth. We are therefore happy to regularly participate in events in and around the city and support local charitable organizations. We also give preference to regional products when purchasing services, goods and ingredients for our company restaurant. In this way, we want to further strengthen our ties to the region and exert a lasting positive influence on it.

9. Violation of the Code of Conduct

Each individual employee is responsible for complying with our Code of Conduct. In cases of doubt, every employee can contact their manager, the HR department or the Management Board. iba AG offers employees the opportunity to report possible violations of the Code of Conduct as well as possible material violations of applicable law confidentially via the implemented whistleblower system. Non-compliance with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary, civil and, if applicable, criminal consequences.
